Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman is setting his sights on Champions League qualification with Atalanta as the Serie A season reaches its climax.

The Super Eagles forward has been in scintillating form since returning to club action after representing Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Lookman played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s recent 2-0 victory over Empoli, contributing a goal and an assist to secure the crucial win. With this performance, Lookman has bolstered his season’s tally to 11 goals and seven assists across 37 appearances in all competitions.

Currently occupying sixth place in the Serie A table with 57 points from 33 games, Atalanta trails Roma by just two points, with one game in hand.

With the revamped UEFA Champions League format set to take effect next season, Lookman is determined to help his team secure a top-five finish and qualify for Europe’s elite competition.

“This victory against Empoli is crucial as we aim to secure Champions League qualification,” Lookman emphasized. “We have important commitments in the Italian Cup and the Europa League, so winning today was vital.”

Acknowledging the challenge posed by Roma, Lookman expressed confidence in Atalanta’s ability to compete at the highest level.

“Roma is a formidable team, but we are equally strong. We understand that every match is a tough battle, but we are prepared to give our all and strive for victory in each game,” he concluded.
