Super Falcons midfielder and Trabzonspor Women star, Chioma Olise, has honoured the Director General of the National Institute for Sports and former Edo State Deputy Governor, Honourable Philip Shaibu, by presenting him with her Trabzonspor jersey. The symbolic gesture was made in appreciation of his unwavering support and mentorship during her time at Edo Queens FC.

Olise, who transferred to Trabzonspor Women earlier this year, described Shaibu as a “pillar of strength” whose encouragement played a pivotal role in her development as a professional footballer.

“You’ve been a great father figure and a blessing to me and my family,” Olise said during the heartfelt moment. “I’m truly grateful for your support during my time at Edo Queens FC.”

In response, Honourable Shaibu expressed pride in Chioma’s progress and applauded her gesture:

“It’s heartwarming to see you doing well in Turkey. Keep shining and continue making us proud,” he said.

Olise recently completed an impressive debut season in the Turkish Women’s Football League, registering one goal and three assists, and has returned to Nigeria during the off-season.

The jersey presentation serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of mentorship and a supportive environment in nurturing sporting talent.
