Frank Onyeka talks up Nigeria’s chances of winning 2023 AFCON

Nigeria midfielder, Frank Onyeka has expressed optimism that the country has the quality and talents to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON coming up in January.
Jose Peseiro’s men have been paired in Group A alongside host nation, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.
The Super Eagles will be aiming to win their fourth AFCON title when the tournament kickoff in Ivory Coast in few weeks and Onyeka who has being a regular player in the current Super Eagles’ team feels the team can compete and win the coveted title.
“Look at the squad we’ve got, we can go there and win it. We’ve got Osimhen, Boniface, Awoniyi — they are all doing well in Europe,” the Brentford midfielder enthused.
“So we’ve got a good team and we can go and win. We have plenty of past players who have done well for Nigeria but now for us as players, we need to focus on ourselves and as a team to do what we need to do to make our nation proud.”
Nigeria will open their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe on January 14.
They will take on Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau on January 18 and January 22 respectively.
