Gateway Games: Male football gets underway as teams start medal journey

Male football at the ongoing 2024 National Sports Festival started in Ikenne Remo, with four matches.

Host, Team Ogun lost 2-1 to their counterparts from Ebonyi state.

In Northern derby, Team Kano edged Team Kwara 1-0 as Team Federal Capital Territory (FCT) beat Team Borno 4-1 in another clash of Northern teams

Finally, Team Lagos walked over Team Ondo 3-0 as the latter didn’t show up for their game.

Currently, two centres is hosting football events of the Gateway Games.

Babcock University pitch, Ilishan Remo is the venue for women’s football is taking place.

Remo Stars Stadium is staging male football with games set to continue on Tuesday.
