Barring any last minute changes, Nigeria U17 national team captain, Simon Cletus is expected to lead his club, Mavlon FC against Spanish side, Villarreal in a friendly game on Thursday.
Mavlon are currently in Spain on a training tour where they will be exposed to world-class football education under the tutelage of Juan Manuel Pavon Dominquez, a renowed Spanish youth coach and Juan Maria Cruz Arias, the highly experienced goalkeeper coach from Man City group.
The modest Nigerian side defeated Villaviciosa 2-0 in a friendly game last week and it is expected that the game against Villarreal will be tougher judging by the pedigree of the club.
“It is a great privilege for Mavlon Fc to be in Europe on a training tour and I sincerely thank the management of club,” Cletus told Totori News.
“I think our game against Villarreal will be tougher than Villaviciosa. Villarreal is a very strong club, with rich football tradition and philosophy.
“So, we know that the game will not be easy, but we will give our best on the pitch to get a favourable result.”
The former Golden Eaglets attributes to change of weather in Europe, Mavlon FC have adapted quickly to the atmosphere and he hopes that the team will give a good account of themselves.
