Legendary welcome as Victor Osimhen returns to Napoli training

The Super Eagles star was granted an extended break by the club following his involvement in Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in June.

The 24-year-old striker has built a legacy in Naples over the last three years as he helped the club win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.

Osimhen scored 26 goals in the league to cart home the Capocannoniere (Golden Boot Award).

The former Lille man also registered five goals in the UEFA Champions League to help the club reach their first-ever quarterfinal finish.

Osimhen was pictured in training with his teammates at Napoli’s Carciato field in Dimaro Folgarida for pre-season.

Napoli also confirmed his arrival with some of his teammates via a statement on their official website.

“Meret Rrahmani, Ostigard, Zielinski, Raspadori, Lobotka, Kvaratskhelia, Elmas, Osimhen also arrived in Dimaro and carried out the physical and medical tests,” reads the statement.

The Italian champions have lined up friendlies against SPAL, Frosinone, and Anaune Val di Non this summer, and Osimhen would be expected to be part of it.

There have been speculations surrounding his exit from club but Osimhen’s contract at the Stadio Maradona expires in June 2025 and Napoli won’t sell him for less than €180-200m this summer
