Maryan Ohadiwe’s treble inspires RFS to big win in Latvia

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward Maryan Ohadiwe made an explosive return to Latvian league action, helping RFS secure a commanding 10-0 victory over Iecava on Wednesday.

Fresh off their triumph in the Latvia Women’s Cup last weekend, Ohadiwe was in sensational form, scoring a hat-trick to lead her team to an emphatic win.

The former Edo Queens star opened the scoring early and added two more to extend her goal tally for the season. Ohadiwe’s remarkable performance was matched by her teammates Natalia Radziievska and Anastasia Polihovich, who also scored three goals each for RFS.

Alina Ansone was the only other player to get on the scoresheet for the home side, completing the rout in the final moments of the match.

Ohadiwe, who is making her debut season in the Latvian women’s league, has now netted eight goals in just a handful of appearances, making her a key figure in RFS’s campaign.

Despite the dominant win, RFS remain in second place in the standings with 40 points, still six points behind leaders Riga FC.

The Latvian team will next face Olaine on October 10, 2024, as they look to close the gap at the top.
