By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Maryan Ohadiwe has marked a significant milestone in her career by helping Rīgas Futbola Skola (RFS) clinch the 2024 Latvian Cup, defeating Riga FC Women 1-0 in the final.

This triumph represents Ohadiwe’s first major title since leaving Nigeria for Latvia, further solidifying her impact in European football.

The Nigerian forward, who has been in impressive form during her debut season in the Latvian women’s league, has scored five goals so far, contributing significantly to RFS’s push for the league title.

RFS currently sits in second place on the league table, as they aim to not only win the championship but also secure a spot in the prestigious UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) next season.

Before moving to Latvia, Ohadiwe was a key player in Nigeria’s top women’s football scene, playing for notable clubs such as Edo Queens, Osun Babes, and Abia Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

Her success in Latvia underscores her talent and potential on the international stage, and with RFS’s league campaign still in full swing, there is hope for more success in the coming months.
