NNL: ABS reappoints Cameroonian trainer Anthony Encho as head coach

By Wale Mustapha

Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC has reappointed Cameroonian tactician Anthony Encho as their head coach until the end of the current Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

Encho takes over from Sani Sardauna, who was dismissed last week after failing to make a significant impact during the first round of the league. ABS ended the first half of the season in seventh place in the Conference B standings.

At his unveiling on Tuesday in Ilorin, Encho expressed excitement at returning to the club where he previously worked.

He promised to turn the team’s fortunes around and secure promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

“I was in ABS before, I did 50% of the job, and now I’m back to complete the remaining 50% to make it 100%.

“My first mission is to take the team to the Super Eight and promote the team to the NPFL,” Encho stated.

The former Crown FC coach emphasized his belief in his players and vowed to instill a positive mindset in the squad despite their current position.

“I want them to have a positive mindset that they are going to the Super Eight, and by the special grace of God, we will achieve it,” he added.

Encho will be assisted by Saliu Aremu, Salaudeen Adeyinka (Keshi), and Boyin Ayodele (goalkeeper coach).

The Ilorin-based team will begin the second half of their campaign with an away match against Gateway United.
