Ogbonda Whyte: Bayelsa Queens gaffer eyes big prize ahead of second stanza

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Ahead of the second stanza of the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, the head coach of Bayelsa Queens is already eyeing the league title.
Since the 2021/22 season, when the team won the title, it has been a gradual slide from second to third position in the preceding two seasons.
With their unbeaten run intact this season after seven games in the first stanza, Whyte, who hopes to win his first-ever league trophy as a coach, also attempts continental glory.
“We have gradually gotten our rhythm and I believe with time, we will get the performance that our hard work deserves,” He told www.bayelsaqueens.org
“We aim to return to the continent, which is where Bayelsa Queens belongs,” he said.
Whyte hopes to continue his winning mentality after breaking his trophy duck with the 2024 President Federation Cup title with Rivers Angels last season.
His experience as former head coach of Ibom Angels, Confluence Queens, Osun Babes, and Rivers Angels will count a lot this time around in the title race.
Bayelsa Queens will return to action in Yenagoa when hostilities resume for the second round of the NWFL on the 19th March 2025 at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
