Acting Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes, Mohammed Magin disclosed the strategy that gave his side the rare result was to start on the front foot as against the usual defensive approach against Bendel Insurance.
Tornadoes humbled Insurance by 3-1 in Benin on Wednesday was one of unexpected results of Nigeria Premier Football League midweek as the Ikon Allah Boys were on rampage, scoring three goals in the first half.
Clinton Jephta was the orchestrator of the goals with two assists for both Chidiebere Ernest and Akintunde Azeez and one goal for himself rendering Chukwudi Meze’s second half goal a mere consolation.
Following the second away victory of the season for Tornadoes, Magin averred that subsequent games will be approached with the same mentality irrespective of the opponents.
“Well, for every game, there is always a plan and strategy and as you can see, the strategy worked for us which is all out attack to unsettle our opponent.
“It helped us to get our three quick goals and that was what we set out to do and we were able to defend our goals in the second half.
“We are going to play Gombe United as if they are champions, we won’t mind their position on the log.
“We will approach the game with the intention of getting our three maximum points because that’s the only way we can consolidate on today’s win and move out of the bottom,” he said to Tornadoes’ media.
The victory, however moved Tornadoes to 12th on the log and will entertain struggling Gombe United next Sunday in Kaduna.
