Nigeria head coach, Eric Chelle, has called on his players to concentrate fully on their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, emphasizing that the only priority at this moment should be securing a victory in Kigali.

The Super Eagles will face Rwanda in a crucial Matchday five fixture at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, set to kick off at 5:00 PM Nigerian time. With Nigeria’s qualification hopes hanging in the balance, Chelle is determined to keep the team focused on the task at hand.

In a pre-match press conference on Thursday, Chelle made it clear that the team’s primary objective was to secure all three points against Rwanda, despite the challenge of playing in front of a passionate home crowd.

“We need to win this game. They are training hard, and they want Nigerians to be proud of them,” Chelle stated. “They also have a new coach, they want to win, and we also want to win. We are ready.”

The coach added, “I just want my players to focus on this game—only this game for now. After that, we will see the other games.”

With both teams eager for the win, the clash is set to be a high-stakes encounter as Nigeria looks to reignite its World Cup qualification campaign.

Nigeria currently sits in a precarious position in Group C with just three points from four matches, while Rwanda leads the group following a strong start to their campaign.
