Nigeria’s head coach Eric Chelle has issued a firm ultimatum to his squad ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, stressing that victory is absolutely essential.
Nigeria will face the Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday, with the Super Eagles in dire need of three points.
Currently sitting with just three points from four matches, Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes hang in the balance, making this match a must-win for the team.
“We need to win this game,” Chelle stated emphatically during a press conference on Thursday.
“I want my players to focus on this match, and after that, we’ll think about the others.”
Chelle’s declaration highlights the critical nature of the upcoming clash, with the Super Eagles under pressure to secure a vital win that would revive their chances in the qualifiers.
His directive sets the tone for the team’s preparations, as they aim to overcome the challenges posed by their current standing in Group C.
With Chelle’s clear focus on the task at hand, the players are expected to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of victory in Kigali.
