Retired FIFA assistant referee Bosede Momoh dies after brief illness

Bosede Momoh, a retired FIFA-badged assistant referee and a prominent figure in Nigerian football officiating, has passed away.
The Kogi-born referee died on Easter Sunday at the National Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.
Momoh, who earned her FIFA badge in 2009, had a distinguished career as an assistant referee and was widely respected for her professionalism and dedication to the sport. She retired from active officiating in 2020.
Beyond the pitch, Momoh remained deeply involved in the football community.
She was a member of the National Physical Fitness Instructors and frequently participated in preseason fitness programs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reflecting her lifelong commitment to physical fitness and the development of the game.
Her passing has been met with sorrow across Nigeria’s football circles, where she was known not only for her accomplishments on the field but also for her mentorship and contributions to the growth of female officiating in the country.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
