The Super Eagles will launch their newly designed Nike jerseys for this year in June, when they host South Africa in a must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier in Uyo.
Nike recently made public the new jerseys with a majority of fans declaring their admiration for the new designs.
For the first time in three years, the Super Eagles will wear white as their home kit, with the green jersey, traditionally Nigeria’s home kit, serving as the away kit.
Notably, the Super Eagles logo is absent from the jersey but appears on the shorts, while Nike’s logo is in red, deviating from the usual Super Eagles color scheme.
The most unusual feature of the Nike Nigeria 2024 home shirt is that Nike has used the word ‘NAIJA’ on the front of the shirt instead of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) crest.
Fans were hoping to see the team donning the new jersey in Marrakech, Morocco, when the Super Eagles faced Ghana and Mali in an international friendly.
However, it is now revealed that the team will don the jersey when they take on South Africa in Uyo and then confront Benin Republic away from home in the international window of 3-11 June, in Matchdays 3 and 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Nigeria are third in their qualifying group with two points from as many rounds of matches.
The new kits from Nike not only represent a fresh chapter for the national team but also serve as a symbol of Nigeria’s enduring spirit and unity.
“The team will start using the new jerseys in June for the World Cup qualifiers beginning with the home game against South Africa and then the away match in Benin,” via SCORENigeria.
With the newly unveiled Super Eagles jersey, Nigeria is poised to make a statement not only in football but also in the world of fashion.
