English Premier League (EPL) giants Newcastle United have reportedly entered the race to sign Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray from Serie A club Napoli.
Osimhen, 25, has been in sensational form this season, further cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s top strikers.
According to reports from Chronicle, Newcastle United is preparing a bid for the Nigerian international in the upcoming summer transfer window, as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Napoli, who will be listening to offers for the forward, are expected to demand around €80 million for the player. Osimhen’s contract with the Italian club runs until the summer of 2026, meaning Napoli holds significant leverage in any potential transfer negotiations.
Osimhen’s performance at Galatasaray has only increased his market value, with the striker already making a huge impact in the Turkish Super Lig.
His loan spell in Turkey has been successful, and the forward has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Premier League contenders and other high-profile teams across Europe.
At present, Osimhen is on international duty with the Super Eagles, preparing for Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
His focus will remain on securing Nigeria’s qualification for the tournament, but it is expected that his future will be the subject of much attention when the transfer window reopens.
Newcastle, who have been keen on strengthening their squad after returning to the upper echelons of the Premier League, will likely face stiff competition for Osimhen’s signature from other European clubs, with the striker’s form continuing to attract widespread interest.
