U17 WWC: Flamingos set for 2-week training in Dominican Republic

Nigeria’s U17 women’s football national team is gearing up for their 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup campaign with a two-week training camp.
The Flamingos, who have made a remarkable impact in previous tournaments, will depart for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Tuesday, October 1st.
The competition will take place from October 16 to November 3, 2024, featuring 16 teams. Nigeria is placed in Group A alongside the host nation Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and New Zealand.
The Nigerian ladies showcased their offensive prowess during the qualifiers, scoring an impressive 25 goals across six matches.
Historically, they have only missed one edition of the tournament since its inception in 2008. In the last edition held in India, they finished third and are now aiming to improve upon that performance.
Under the guidance of head coach Bankole Olowookere, the team is looking forward to making a strong showing in the Caribbean. The training tour will prepare them for the challenges ahead as they seek to add to Nigeria’s legacy in women’s football.
