Victor Boniface acknowledges Xabi Alonso’s impact on career progress

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, has attributed much of his career improvement to Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso.

Boniface played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s triumph in winning their first Bundesliga title, a success he credits in part to Alonso’s coaching methods. He emphasized Alonso’s active involvement in training, noting how the former Real Madrid midfielder’s competitive spirit motivates players to elevate their performance.

“It’s inspiring when your coach is out there on the field, setting the pace,” Boniface remarked to AFP. “When you see him performing at a high level, it pushes you to do the same.”

Boniface also highlighted Alonso’s personalized approach to player development, particularly in addressing his own weaknesses.

“He shares insights from his experiences and offers guidance on areas where I can improve,” Boniface explained.

The 23-year-old forward’s impressive statistics speak volumes about his progress under Alonso’s mentorship, with 11 goals and eight assists in just 20 matches this season.

Alonso’s hands-on coaching style and dedication to player development have undoubtedly played a pivotal role in Boniface’s growth, underscoring the positive impact of effective leadership in football.
