Bayer Leverkusen’s history-maker Victor Boniface is set to bring the Bundesliga title celebration to his hometown of Akure, Nigeria.
Following in the footsteps of Victor Osimhen, who celebrated winning the Serie A title with Napoli in his childhood neighborhood of Olusosun, near Ojota, Lagos State, Boniface is ready to share the joy with his community in Akure, Ondo State.
Boniface played a pivotal role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga triumph, contributing 11 goals and 9 assists in 18 league games. Their victory over 11-time champions Bayern Munich marked the first time in Bayer Leverkusen’s 120-year history that they claimed the Bundesliga title.
His consistent performances throughout the season established him as a key player in Xabi Alonso’s championship-winning side.
“We’re going to paint Akure Red,” he declared on his Instagram Live while celebrating the historic win.
“God made it possible, it wasn’t easy considering our background. When I come home, we’ll shut down the whole town,” he added.
