Joy Omewa’s brace inspires Fortuna Hjorring to third place finish in Denmark

Nigeria forward, Joy Omewa scored two goals to help her Fortuna Hjorring to a 2-0 victory over Thisted FC in the final match of the Danish Elite divisionen women’s championship group on Saturday.
The visitors were desperate to finish the season on a high after they lost 4-0 to evventual champions, Koge.
After a goalless first half, Fortuna finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute thanks to Omewa’s goal.
Two minutes later, the former Confluence Queens player doubled the lead for the visitors to guarantee the triumph and also ensure a third-place finish.
Joy who started the game for Fortuna Hjorring saw 64 minutes of play and was replaced by Elizabeth Moore. The 20-year-old Nigerian scored four goals in ten Championship games for her team.
With the win, Fortuna Hjorring finished the season with a bronze medal after amassing 44 points from ten Championship games, 13 points behind second-placed Brondby.
Champions, Koge won the league with 60 points, 16 points ahead of Fortuna Hjorring. Up next for Omewa and her team is the Danish Women’s Cup final against Nordsjaelland on June 21.
