Remo Stars’ Technical Adviser, Daniel Ogunmodede, has described his side’s 2-1 loss to Niger Tornadoes on Sunday as an unfortunate setback, especially after dominating the early stages of the match.
The Sky Blues Stars started the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 15 encounter strongly but faltered in the closing stages of the first half.
This lapse allowed the host to capitalize, with Godstime and Papa Daniel scoring two quick goals in the space of just 10 minutes. Although Remo Stars responded in the second half with a well-crafted goal from Michael Ibe to reduce the deficit, it ultimately proved to be a consolation as they fell to defeat.
Ogunmodede was clearly frustrated by the outcome, lamenting the loss of concentration that cost his team dearly.
“It was a game we could have won, but we lost concentration and they got two quick goals,” Ogunmodede said.
“We had a lot of opportunities to be on top of the game, we were all around them considering how much we needed the game, but unfortunately for us, they defended well.”
Despite the disappointing result, Ogunmodede stressed that his team would focus on the positives and quickly turn their attention to the next challenge.
“It’s a victory that is good for them and a loss that is not good for us. Nevertheless, we’ll take the positives and move to the next game.”
Remo Stars will now look to bounce back when they face Elkanemi Warriors in their next NPFL fixture.
