Abia Warriors’ Erasmus Onuh disappointed after failed attempt to upset Lobi Stars
By Saheed Afolabi
Abia Warriors Coach, Erasmus Onuh is not happy that his game plan didn’t help their cause an upset against Lobi Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League encounter on Sunday.
The Ochendo Babes suffered another defeat at the hands of the Pride of Benue, making it two consecutive losses following a 5-1 thrashing at Bayelsa United and the former Heartland manager rued his side poor outing.
“Well you saw a goal that’s questionable, not against the referee, it’s against my wards,” Onuh told media.
“When I look at things that are not going well, I have to make the changes before the damage is done. The person I changed wasn’t feeling alright, I have to remove him then replace him.
“We didn’t know he was not feeling fine, those that are been ferried out on the pitch, they are well before they enter the pitch. At the end of it maybe something happened and we take them out.
“If you say I conceded and defended well, that means maybe I came to defend. I’m not here to defend, I’m here to play football. If it didn’t flow well then there’s nothing you can do.
“Manchester United is a great club, a player there can fund this team for ten years, they lost 7-1. That’s football, you cannot predict it, anything you see in football, you take it because even if you coach the boys, you are not the one playing. They will go there and play there own mind.”
Abia Warriors will trade tackles with Sunshine Stars in their next encounter on the 12th of April at the Enyimba International stadium, Aba.
The Ochendo Babes seat on the seventh position in the NPFL group B with 18 points from 13 matches.
