Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi ended his lengthy goal drought, helping Nottingham Forest to a dominant 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
Awoniyi, who has struggled with injuries and been sidelined in the club’s attacking lineup, came on as a second-half substitute. He sealed the win with Forest’s third goal, courtesy of an excellent assist from James Ward-Prowse.
This marked the first time since last season that the towering forward found the back of the net.
The first half had seen Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood get on the scoresheet for Forest, who extended their impressive run with a sixth consecutive league win.
The victory lifts Forest to 40 points, drawing them level with Arsenal in second place on goal difference, and just six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Next up for Forest is a thrilling clash with Liverpool at the City Ground on Tuesday, which promises to be a significant test for the high-flying side.
