Azubuike Okechukwu: Nigerian midfielder switches clubs in Turkish Super Lig

Former captain of Nigeria U23 men’s national team, Azubuike Okechukwu has completed a move to Turkish second division club, Erzurumspor, Nigeriafootball.ng reports.

Okechukwu who has become a known face in Turkish football played for Caykur Rizespor, last season.

The 27-year-old could only make 13 league appearances for Rizespor due to his struggles for match fitness and injuries.

The midfielder is presently training with Erzurumspor pending his official unveiling.

Since leaving the Nigerian club football scene, Okechukwu has spent most of his professional career in Turkey and has previously played for clubs including Yeni Malatyaspor, Istanbul Basaksehir and Sivasspor.

The former Bayelsa United star has made one appearance for Nigeria at the international level.
