EPL: Taiwo Awoniyi joins growing Nottingham Forest injury list

Nottingham Forest’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, has confirmed that Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has sustained a hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined for an undisclosed period.
Awoniyi was absent from the squad during Forest’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.
Speaking after the loss at Villa Park, Santos revealed that the injury occurred during the club’s previous match against Manchester United.
“We don’t know exactly when he’ll be back. It’s going to be day by day. He [Taiwo Awoniyi] felt something in his hamstring,” Santos stated, providing little clarity on the striker’s return.
The injury is a blow for Nottingham Forest, who are already grappling with Chris Wood’s hip problem sustained while on international duty.
Additionally, Wood’s teammate, another Nigerian forward, had previously been ruled out due to an ankle injury.
With both key forwards on the sidelines, Forest will now face additional challenges in their upcoming matches as they work to cover the growing injury list.
