Ghana will host the first edition of the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) U-17 Women’s Nations Cup.
The city of Accra will be bubbling for the highly anticipated tournament from December 12 to 26, 2024.
Seven West African nations will participate in the competition, including host Ghana, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo.
Ghana also hosted the maiden edition of the WAFU-B U-20 Women’s Championship, which the host emerged Champions ahead of Nigeria a few years ago.
The tournament will allow promising young talents to showcase their skills at the sub-regional stage.
It aims to inspire the next generation of female footballers and promote gender equality through sports, as it reinforces the growing prominence of women’s football across Africa.
The tournament follows similar competitions in other sub-regions, especially COSAFA (Southern Africa).
