Kenneth Omeruo applauds Cyriel Dessers for goal against Manchester United

By Monsurah Olatunji

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers has continued to garner praise for his stunning strike against Manchester United in their recent UEFA Europa League encounter.

The latest praise comes from Nigerian teammate Kenneth Omeruo, who took to social media to applaud Dessers for his brilliant performance in Rangers’ 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

Dessers scored a superb goal in the 88th minute to level the score at 1-1. He latched onto a lofted pass from captain James Tavernier inside the box and drilled a precise shot into the bottom-right corner, showcasing his composure and skill.

Despite his impressive goal, which demonstrated both his talent and determination, the Nigerian international’s effort wasn’t enough to earn Rangers a point. A last-minute goal from Bruno Fernandes handed Manchester United the win, leaving Rangers disappointed after a strong showing.

Nonetheless, Omeruo was full of praise for his compatriot, posting on his X (formerly Twitter) account: “What a goal by Cyriel Dessers. One of the best finishers from Naija.”

The 30-year-old Dessers has been in fine form this season, scoring 17 goals in 34 appearances for Rangers. His goal against Manchester United also marked his 150th career goal, further cementing his status as a key player. His impressive performances have sparked speculation about a potential move to Italy’s Serie A.

Dessers’ goal was celebrated by fans, who recognized his consistent contributions to the team, despite the result.
