NPFL lands hammer on Plateau United team official, players

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) have wielded its hammer on the Team Manager of Plateau United, Iliya Abel and two players for acts of indiscipline.
The duet of Jimmy Ambrose and Charles Henlong have been penalized by the league body over misconduct leading to three match ban.
According to a publicized Press Release from NPFL, they said Plateau United were punished for breaching the league body framework and rules in their game against Kwara United.
Following the harassment and intimidation of referees, the club were further fined a paltry one million naira. The Jos based side have been warned to desist from repeating the negative habit going forward or face heavy sanctions.
“Plateau United have been charged for breaching NPFL Framework and Rules in the course of their Matchday 15 fixture at Kwara United on Thursday, December 21.
“Players and officials of Plateau United harassed the match officials after the game in Jos, an act of misconduct capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
“Plateau United failed to ensure proper conduct of their players and officials, resulting in the harassment and intimidation of the referee after the match.
“A fine of N1 million has been imposed on Plateau United for misconduct and failure to ensure proper conduct of their players and officials.
“Plateau United’s Jimmy Ambrose & Charles Henlong have been suspended for the next 3 matchweeks & the club’s team manager Iliya Abel is also suspended for the 3 next matches for his inciting and unsporting conduct.
“Plateau United have been warned of facing stiffer sanctions if there is a similar recurrence of such conduct.
“Plateau United have 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal these sanctions.”
The sixth placed Mbwas Magnut tutored side will clash with 14th place Sporting Lagos in their next game at the 60,000 capacity New Jos Stadium, Jos on December 28.
