NPFL: ‘That isn’t the best’ – Finidi George blasts Akwa United over negative antics

By Saheed Afolabi
Head coach of Enyimba, Finidi George has blasted Akwa United for deploying negative antics in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
The Promise Keepers kept their survival hopes on the horizon with an impressive 3-1 win over the Aba Elephants.
Although the former international admitted the home side deserved to win the contest but advised the Promise Keepers to stop deploying time wasting antics.
“Akwa United deserved to win, we must give them that credit,” Finidi told the media.
“But what I didn’t like is the fact that when you are winning the balls disappear; Akwa United is bigger than that.
“That isn’t the best for a team like Akwa United even if you are winning by a lone goal, let the ball boys do their job not otherwise.
“Akwa United need to be better on that because if other teams do the same to them, they won’t be happy.
“There are ways to delay, you can play possession football, which is more professional than this.”
Despite their away loss to Akwa United, the NPFL defending champions, Enyimba who seat on the fifth position on the log with 39 points from 23 matches will trade tackles with visiting Doma United on Sunday, March 10 in Aba.
