Nigerian Afrobeat star Skales has met Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal after the singer’s 2015 hit Shake Body unexpectedly became the anthem of the club’s Copa del Rey celebrations.

The meeting, years in the making, came after a viral video showed Spanish stars Yamal, Nico Williams, and Samu Omorodion dancing to Shake Body, sparking the #ShakeBodyChallenge across Spanish TikTok.

The surge in popularity led to a 26% increase in the song’s streams, closing in on one million plays within a week.

Skales, whose real name is Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, shared a joyful video on Instagram where he joined Yamal’s mother, Sheila Ebana, and younger brother, Keyne, in the viral dance challenge.

“I just met Lamine Yamal’s mom!! Now I see it runs in the family!!! Oya Shakebody,” he wrote.

The 16-year-old Yamal later linked up with Skales on the pitch after Barcelona’s Copa del Rey final win, sharing selfies and videos in what fans described as a “full-circle moment.”

To cap off the celebrations, Skales performed Shake Body live at Barcelona’s private title party, turning the post-match event into an Afrobeat celebration.

The Blaugrana squad danced alongside him, embracing the viral hit that had brought Nigerian sound into the heart of Spanish football festivities.
