Paris 2024 Olympics: Brazil legend hails Chiamaka Nnadozie’s heroic goalkeeping

By Wale Mustapha

Iconic Brazilian striker Marta has lauded Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, for her remarkable performance during the 2024 Olympic match between Brazil and Nigeria.

In a highly anticipated game, Marta aimed to equal the record for the most goals scored in the Olympics and become the first player to score in six consecutive Olympic Games.

Although Marta’s 36th-minute goal was disallowed for offside, she provided a brilliant assist to Gabi Nunes, whose subsequent goal secured Brazil’s 1-0 victory.

Despite her frustration with the disallowed goal, Marta was quick to commend Nnadozie’s exceptional goalkeeping.

Marta described Nnadozie as “a great goalkeeper” and acknowledged her impressive save, which kept the game tightly contested.

“It was frustrating, of course. But the most important thing is that we didn’t complain; we kept pushing and eventually found a pass for Gabi. She made a great shot and scored the winning goal,” Marta said in a post-match interview with Globo.

Nnadozie’s performance continues to impress, reflecting her outstanding form with four consecutive clean sheets in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers against Cameroon and South Africa.
