Paul Onuachu joins growing list of injured Nigerian players after AFCON 2023

Nigeria and Trabzonspor striker has been confirmed injured and is expected to be out for a period of eight weeks.
The lanky forward sustained multiple injuries during Trabzonspor’s Turkish Super Cup win over Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday as the former Gent striker was replaced by Enis Destan in the 68th minute of the encounter.
In a statement, Trabzonspor confirmed that the giant striker suffered a groin injury and an MRI scan also showed a fracture on the left forearm.
Onuachu is now the latest Nigerian star to suffer an injury, barely 20 days after the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has not played since the end of the tournament due to injury.
Porto full-back Zaidu Sanusi is also expected to be out for about eight months after undergoing surgery this week.
AFCON’s player of the tournament, William Troost-Ekong also went under the knife this week after sustaining a hamstring injury in the competition.
