NFF takes action against referee for rrroneous calls

By Saheed Afolabi

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Referees Development Committee has once again demonstrated its commitment to upholding the integrity of the game by taking decisive action against referee Tijani Usman Majidadi for contentious decisions made during a match in Port Harcourt.

Majidadi officiated the game between Rivers United and Katsina United, which saw the home team secure a 2-0 victory.

However, the NFF Referees Development Committee deemed Majidadi’s decisions to be inconsistent with the laws of the game and detrimental to the match’s integrity.

Consequently, the committee has suspended Majidadi indefinitely, citing his decisions as a breach of the rules and bringing the game into disrepute.

“In view of your decisions that adversely affect not only the outcome of the match between Rivers United FC and Katsina United FC played on Thursday, 25th April 2024, in Port Harcourt wherein one of your decisions contradicts the provisions of the Laws of the Game,” stated the referees committee in a press release.

“This not only negatively affects the outcome of the game but equally brings the game to disrepute. I am directed to notify you that you have been stepped down with immediate effect from the league until further notice.”

The NFF’s firm stance underscores its commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency in football officiating, as it seeks to maintain the integrity of the sport.
