NPFL Title Race: Finidi George stays optimistic as Rivers United chase Remo Stars

By Wale Mustapha
Rivers United Technical Adviser George Finidi has reiterated his confidence in his team’s chances of winning the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, despite trailing leaders Remo Stars by seven points with just four matches remaining in the season.
The Pride of Rivers currently sit second on the NPFL table, and Finidi insists the title race is far from over.
“Four games, that’s 12 points. We still have two home matches,” Finidi said in a post-match media briefing.
“We’re trying to pile pressure on Remo [Stars]. We won’t relent. We’ll see how we can go away and get something from the next game.”
The former Super Eagles winger also emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. “You can see that on my face—I’m always positive,” he added.
Rivers United will travel to Kano this weekend for a crucial clash against Kano Pillars, as they continue their push for the league crown.
