Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has sent a strong warning to the club’s Bundesliga rivals, asserting that Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface is back to his best.
After struggling with injury and a dip in form, Boniface marked his return to peak performance with a goal in last weekend’s match, signaling a significant resurgence in his game.
Alonso praised the Nigerian striker’s partnership with Patrik Schick, highlighting Boniface’s versatility and readiness to start in Leverkusen’s upcoming matches.
“I was impressed with both Boniface and Schick against Bochum, especially in the second half,” Alonso told BILD. “Boni is back at a good level and can certainly start.”
Alonso also emphasized Boniface’s adaptability, noting that he can operate as a centre-forward or as a winger, making him a valuable asset for Leverkusen.
With Boniface regaining his top form, Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga rivals will need to take notice, as the Nigerian striker’s return to full fitness could pose a serious threat in the league.
