Enyimba confirms Ojo Olorunleke’s exit

By Monsurah Olatunji

NPFL side Enyimba has announced that their goalkeeper and captain, Ojo Olorunleke, will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Sudanese giants, Al Merreikh.

Olorunleke, who was an unused substitute in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, has decided to leave the recently dethroned NPFL champions.

His move to Sudan marks a new chapter in his career after his notable contributions to Enyimba.

The former Abia Warriors and Akwa United shot-stopper is set to make his last appearance for Enyimba against Plateau United in Aba on Sunday, a crucial match that could secure a continental ticket for the club next season.

“Enyimba can announce that captain Olorunleke Ojo will depart the club at the end of the season. Over the past three years, Ojo has been an integral part of our team, contributing significantly to our growth and success,” the club stated.

Ojo’s departure marks the end of a significant era for Enyimba, with his leadership and skills having played a key role in their recent campaigns. His new journey with Al Merreikh is eagerly anticipated by fans and analysts alike.
