By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Benfica midfielder Christy Ucheibe made headlines by financially supporting the Spartan Eagles of Nigeria, the nation’s mini football national team.

Ucheibe, who just returned from the 2024 Olympics arranged for the support despite her busy pre-season schedule with her Portuguese club, SL Benfica with which she won the the Trofeu do Algerve Femenina title.

Ucheibe could not be present at the event, she sent a representative to deliver a token of support to the Spartan Eagles. This gesture coincided with the installation of Amb. Dr Jonathan Ojadah as the Grand Patron of the association.

She has won numerous titles with SL Benfica in Portugal and featured at\ last three tournaments, 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and Paris 2024 Olympics for the Super Falcons.
