El-Kanemi Warriors bow out of CAF Confederation Cup to Dadje FC

2024 President Federation Cup champions, El-Kanemi Warriors crashed out of the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup at the first Preliminary Round after a 2-1 loss to Dadje FC in the return leg on Saturday.

The first leg ended 1-1 at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State last Saturday.

Bless Selassi who scored in the first leg for Dadje FC broke the deadlock for the host in the 30th minute.

Seven minutes later, El-Kanemi Warriors restored parity before the half time break.

With nine minutes remaining for the game to end, Selassi scored the winning goal to seal a 3-2 victory on aggregate for the Benin Republic side.

With El-Kanemi Warriors bowing out of the CAF Confederation Cup, Enyimba which had a bye from the first Preliminary Round remained Nigeria’s sole representative in the CAF second tier tournament.

They qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after their third place finish at the end of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
