Nasarawa Amazons’ Head Coach, Christopher Danjuma, praised his players for their strong performance in a 2-0 victory over Abia Angels on Wednesday, which he described as a “payback” for their earlier loss to the same opponents.
The Lafia-based side took control in the second half, with goals from Janet Akekeromowei and Chisom Chima securing the win in their Matchday 10 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) encounter.
This victory was particularly sweet, as it avenged their 3-0 loss to Abia Angels in the first round of the season.
Danjuma acknowledged the challenge posed by the visitors from Umuahia but credited his players for sticking to their pre-match strategy, which ultimately led to success.
“After our 3-0 loss to them in the first round, we knew we had to stay focused when we meet again in the second round,” he said.
“We created chances in the first half but couldn’t convert them. Our strategy paid off in the second half, and we got the desired result.”
Nasarawa Amazons will next face Confluence Queens in their upcoming league fixture.
