Sevilla FC President José María del Nido Carrasco has expressed his enthusiasm about the newly formed partnership between the Spanish club and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
This collaboration, solidified by NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye’s visit to Sevilla, aims to offer sporting advice, develop young Nigerian talent, and enhance coaches’ training.
Carrasco is confident that this alliance will significantly improve and develop youth club academies within the NPFL.
He believes that Sevilla’s involvement in Nigeria will help expand their brand in Africa, especially after the positive support they received following the signing of Chidera Ejuke.
“We are very happy to be able to work with the Nigerian Professional League,” Carrasco stated, as quoted by Sevilla.
“Sevilla FC is convinced that this alliance can help NPFL clubs to continue improving and encourage the development of youth players.
“This is a new decisive step in our internationalisation process and will help our brand to continue to grow in Africa, in a country like Nigeria from which we are receiving a lot of support after the signing of Chidera Ejuke.”
Ejuke, the first Nigerian player to sign for Sevilla, marks a significant milestone in this collaboration.
Additionally, Sevilla is reportedly in advanced negotiations to secure the signature of striker Kelechi Iheanacho, further cementing their commitment to nurturing Nigerian talent.
