Super Eagles assistant captain, Wilfred Ndidi, will soon be playing under a new manager at Leicester City, as the club confirmed the sacking of Steve Cooper on Sunday.
This decision comes after a string of disappointing results, including a 2-1 loss to Chelsea at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City, currently sitting 16th in the Premier League standings after 12 matches, made the announcement that Cooper’s departure was immediate, with first-team coach Ben Dawson stepping in to oversee training in the interim.
Dawson will be supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes as the club moves forward with the process of hiring a new manager.
In a statement, the club said, “Men’s first team training will be overseen by first-team coach Ben Dawson, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the club begins the process of appointing a new manager, which we hope to conclude as soon as possible.”
The Foxes’ management will now look to appoint a permanent replacement for Cooper, with an announcement expected in the coming days. Ndidi, who has been an integral part of the team, will now face the prospect of adapting to a new managerial approach as the club looks to turn around its fortunes in the league.
