2026 World Cup Qualifier: Ifeanyi Udeze rallies support for struggling Super Eagles
By Saheed Afolabi
Former Nigerian international Ifeanyi Udeze has called for continued support for the national team despite their unimpressive performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Despite the success at the 2023 AFCON, the Super Eagles have found it difficult to win matches, recently suffering a 2-1 defeat to Benin in Abidjan, even after taking the lead.
Udeze acknowledges the precarious situation Nigeria finds itself in concerning World Cup qualification but emphasizes the importance of unwavering support for the team.
“To qualify for the World Cup now will be very difficult for the Eagles. But we still have to continue supporting the team,” Udeze told Brila FM.
Nigerians have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with Super Eagles head coach Finidi George, calling for his dismissal due to the team’s lack of positive results.
The Super Eagles currently sit in fifth position in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers with just three points from four matches, having yet to secure a win.
