By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria minister of sport, Senator John Enoh has congratulated the country’s women’s national team side for sealing qualification to the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris.
The Super Falcons held forth against the Banyana Banyana to emerge victorious over a two legged tie where Nigeria won the first leg 1-0 in Abuja and played out a goalless draw in Pretoria.
The excited Enoh saluted the fascinating performance from the Falcons with their doggedness to break the 16 wait to appear at the multi sports event since 2008.
He ascribed the qualification feat to the power of teamwork and charged Nigerians to rally round and support the team to Paris.
“Today, we salute the Super Falcons for their extraordinary display of tenacity and doggedness, breaking barriers and reclaiming Nigeria’s spot on the Olympic stage,” Enoh was quoted by the ministry of sports.
“Their victory is not just a triumph for Nigerian football, but a testament to the power of dedication and teamwork. As we look forward to Paris 2024, let us rally behind our champions and support them as they strive for greatness.”
After sealing qualification to the Olympics, the Falcons are grouped in group C which consist of Spain, Japan and Brazil.
