NPFL: Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede plots Enyimba fall in Ikenne

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
After its first defeat of the season to Bendel Insurance last week, Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede is looking forward to a win over two-time African Champions, Enyimba on Wednesday.
The team’s 2-0 loss to Bendel Insurance on Saturday ended its perfect start to the Nigeria Premier Football League campaign and the gaffer feels a win over the People’s Elephants will give his side’s title aspirations a huge boost.
“January was a good month for us. The first three matches without conceding but unfortunately we also ended it woefully, defending poorly in our last game and the opponents took advantage of that,” Ogunmodede told Remo Stars Media.
“We were highly indisciplined in our last game and it cost us a lot. We have put that behind us. It’s a new month. We want to put it in a positive manner. Hopefully, it is going to be a wonderful month for us.
“We are aware of how Enyimba plays and tried to watch a lot of their games. No doubt, they are the top club in the league and a household name. Nevertheless, we have a special way of approaching the game with the mentality of playing at home. Secondly, we want to win.
“Thirdly, we want to maintain our status at the top of the table. We want to come out as Champions at the end of the league. We know the consequence of coming out as Champions. What that means is that we need to defeat a team like Enyimba which we are absolutely ready for.”
A win for the Sky Blue Stars will push the team to 12 points after five games, while third placed Enyimba with seven points will seek a positive result in Ikenne to stake a push for the top three finish in the abridged league.
