CAF opens bidding process for Women’s Champions League 2023 and CHAN 2024

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened the bidding process for the next host of CAF Women’s Champions League 2023 and the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) 2024.
According to CAF on Tuesday, the submissions for applications will close on Sunday, 06 May 2023, with the CAF Executive Committee shall be responsible for examining candidatures for the organization of the two competitions.
In line with the requirements, the bid books to be submitted by bidding countries must contain the name of the stadiums hosting the matches, accommodation and transport facilities, and training facilities.
CAF also demands government guarantees including but not limited to entry visas and permits for the whole duration of the competition and a guarantee that any commitment which is formally entered into by the concerned National Association will also be considered as accepted by its government.
Egypt hosted the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021 with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa clinching the title with a.2-0 win over Hasaacas Ladies FC of Ghana.
In 2022, Morocco hosted the second edition of the Women’s Champions League where host team, ASFAR FC dethroned Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies to win the title.
Algeria hosted the last edition of CHAN with Senegal winning the title for the first time, while Cameroon hosted the previous edition in 2021 as Morocco won back-to-back titles.
