Former Nigeria International, Jonathan Akpoborie is dissatisfied with the way Southampton have played Paul Onuachu and he expressed his pity for the Super Eagles star following his struggle.
Onuachu joined the Saints in the mid-season transfer window but has failed to live up to his goal scoring exploits that he was known for in Belgium and Akpoborie said the Saints haven’t utilized Onuachu prowess or strengths.
“This is not the best of time for Onuachu considering the fact that he’s a player that is known to be banging goals in the Belgian League but coming to the Premier League, life has been difficult,” Akpoborie told Complete Sports.
“But then, I don’t really think Southampton played to the strength of Onuachu. He has the height and his aerial strength is overwhelming. I just hope he get the goals before the end of the season.”
Onuachu has played 11 games for Southampton and he’s yet to find the back of the net for the English side.
After their confirmed relegation to the lower league of English football, The Saints will visit inform Brighton on the 21st of May.
Southampton stays rooted to the bottom of the English Premier League with 24 points in 36 matches.
