Sone Aluko Seals a Four-Year Deal with Reading FC, Departing Fulham

Reading Football Club, of the English Championship, has unveiled its latest signing in the form of Nigerian forward, Sone Aluko. The club’s official website made the announcement, confirming that the talented player has penned a four-year contract, marking a significant transfer from Fulham. While the precise fee involved remains undisclosed, the magnitude of this acquisition resonates with the fans, promising a thrilling chapter in Reading’s footballing journey.
In a statement released on their website, Reading expressed their delight at securing the services of the 28-year-old Aluko. The player, who played a pivotal role in Fulham’s journey to a top-six finish last season, undertook a comprehensive medical examination earlier in the day, cementing his commitment to Reading under the management of Jaap Stam.
Manager Stam, a former Manchester United defender, was effusive in his praise for the new addition. “In Sone, we welcome a quality player into our squad,” he stated. The gaffer went on to emphasize Aluko’s attributes, highlighting his speed, ball-handling skills, and versatility on the field. “He poses a threat going forward, he keeps the ball well, he can play as a striker or out on the wing, and I am sure he will improve us as a squad,” Stam concluded.
Aluko’s journey to Reading began with his signing for Fulham last summer. Over the course of his tenure at the London club, he found the back of the net on nine occasions in 50 appearances, even striking a goal against Reading in a memorable match at Craven Cottage. The anticipation of Aluko’s debut in Reading’s colors is palpable, with a potential appearance slated for the fixture against Bristol City at Madejski Stadium on September 9, the first of two home games in just four days for the Royals following the international break. The fans, now eager to see their new star in action, will be keeping a close watch on squad number 14, hoping for an illustrious tenure for the Nigerian forward at Reading FC.
