Head Coach of Nigeria, Jose Peseiro has confirmed that Alhassan Yusuf will not return for his team when they take on Guinea-Bissau in the final group game of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
Yusuf suffered a knock during Nigeria’s first group game against Equatorial Guinea last Sunday and was unable to recover on time for their tie against Ivory Coast.
On Sunday, the Portuguese tactician expressed disappointment of not having the young midfielder for the Guineans.
“Yusuf didn’t train yesterday and he won’t be available for Guinea-Bissau,” Peseiro told media.
“Apart from him, I think we are in good conditions going for the match and you will see the team against Guinea-Bissau (on Monday).”
The Portuguese’s revelation means Kelechi Iheanacho could feature on Monday haven being under check from the injury he suffered before the tournament.
The Super Eagles need a point against Guinea-Bissau to confirm their qualification as group winners.
