Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has been advised by Italian football expert Gaetano Fedele to reconsider his plans to leave SSC Napoli this summer and instead spend another year at the club under the guidance of new manager Antonio Conte.
The 25-year-old striker, who has expressed a preference for a move to the Premier League, has publicly declared his intention to depart the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this summer. However, Fedele believes that staying for another season could be highly beneficial for Osimhen’s development.
“If Osimhen chooses to stay, which is still highly unlikely considering Conte’s recent claims, things will look very different compared to last season,” Fedele told Football Italia. “Rather than the manager merry-go-round and drama that held the club down, there is a refreshed spirit under new boss Antonio Conte.”
Fedele emphasized Conte’s reputation as a demanding manager who achieves results through disciplined play and a strong focus on striker movement. He highlighted Conte’s ability to elevate players to new heights, citing the examples of Éder and Graziano Pelle.
“The Italian is one of the most demanding in the game but earns his results through disciplined play and a heavy focus on striker movement. If he could take Éder and Graziano Pelle to that stage, Conte would help Osimhen make that leap from a great striker into the elite, world-class category,” Fedele added.
This perspective suggests that a year under Conte’s tutelage could transform Osimhen into an elite striker, potentially making a future move to the Premier League even more successful.
