Arsenal unveils new kits with Lagos video

Arsenal has unveiled their 2024/25 away kit, paying tribute to the African heritage of many of the club’s supporters in London and beyond.

The kit launch video features scenes shot in various locations across Africa, including Lagos, Nigeria.

The new away uniform is predominantly black and incorporates the pan-African colors of black, red, and green. This design celebrates the club’s connection to its African fanbase.

The video, uploaded to Arsenal’s YouTube channel, showcases Lagos with glimpses of Okada (motorcycle) and Keke Marwa (tricycle), both common modes of transport in the city.

Nigerian football legend and former Arsenal striker, Kanu Nwankwo, also appears in the video.

Kanu, who played 197 games for Arsenal between 1999 and 2004, scoring 44 goals and providing 33 assists, is a key figure through whom many Nigerians feel connected to the club. He won two Premier League titles, including the 2003/04 Invincibles season, and two FA Cups with Arsenal.

The promotional video also features current Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, an English footballer of Nigerian heritage, alongside Kanu. The soundtrack, “What is Life” by Ebo Taylor and Uhuru-Yenzu, further emphasizes the Nigerian influence on the video.
